What is an Impartial Hearing?
An Impartial Hearing (or “due process hearing”) is a hearing in which you (the guardian) and the Department of Education (DOE) are involved in a dispute about a special education issue. The hearing is similar to a trial, in which both sides (the DOE and you) explain your interpretation of the issue. This hearing may result in services funded by the DOE.
Do you take insurance?
At this time, Transitions accepts Out of Network insurance and can provide you with a superbill to use to submit claims to your insurance company.
What are the qualifications of your providers?
Direct ABA-BCBA, LBA or special educator with ABA experience/BCBA student (w/supervision from a BCBA/LBA)
Behavior Consultation: BCBA/LBA
Assessment Evaluator: BCBA/LBA
Behavior Intervention Plans: BCBA/LBA
Executive Functioning Coach: BCBA, LBA or special educator with ABA experience/BCBA student (w/supervision from a BCBA/LBA)
Social Skills, parent training or toileting- BCBA, LBA or special educator with ABA experience/BCBA student (w/supervision from a BCBA/LBA)
Where do you provide services?
Schools, homes, centers, camps or community
Can you refer me to a lawyer and/or advocate?
Yes! We work closely with reputable lawyers in NYC, Westchester and Long Island and can refer you to someone who can help guide you on your special education issue.
