A Message from Lydia

When I first began in this field at 18 years old, I immediately fell in love with the results I was able to produce as a Behavior Therapist in Early Intervention. My drive to continue my education and become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) stemmed from a burning curiosity and passion to do more: What are the mechanisms behind real behavior change? How can I truly create sustainable, adaptive, and independent lives for the students with whom I’ve built such unique and strong relationships? What even is the science of human behavior?
Becoming a BCBA has answered these questions. But, as I completed my degrees and finally became Board Certified, I realized that my passions, curiosity, and opportunity to learn did not stop there.
Throughout my career, I’ve always had a hunger to practice Behavior Analysis in its intended form. To my surprise, finding such opportunities proved difficult. Consequently, I’ve moved from job to job, searching for a place that truly practices the science and ethics I was taught and firmly believe in and that aligns with my values as a sister to a brother with autism.

This led me to open Transitions, a place where Behavior Analysis is practiced in its purest form. What does this mean? Only evidence-based practices are used. Interventions are heavily proactive and continuously evolving to meet clients' ever-changing needs. Practitioner egos are set aside for the client’s best interests. Client behaviors are monitored to continuously affirm consent to treatment. Connection to the client and the family as a whole and collaboration with related services is non-negotiable. Teaching self-advocacy skills and conducting client-led sessions is imperative. Therapy is interactive, fun, and personalized, with a strong emphasis on facilitating access to client passions, interpersonal relationships, happiness, and societal outings. We are support systems, listeners, teammates and humans first, and lead with an open, non-judgmental heart.

As I continuously work to improve Transitions, I look forward to strengthening the bonds with each client, mentor, and supervisee who has crossed my path, and I eagerly anticipate building new relationships in the future. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this endeavor, and a special thanks to all the clients I’ve worked with, who have taught me so much about behavior but, even more about life.
